Port Authority Board prepares for $250M expansion

The Port Authority Board is advertising for bids on two large contracts for a total construction amount of $250 million toward tenant facilities and support services on the west pier at the state port in Gulfport.

In addition, the port will spend $600 million in federal Hurricane Katrina relief dollars. The project, scheduled to be complete in 2017, will create 1,200 permanent, full-time jobs.

The bids provide the most opportunity for subcontractors and local firms to do most of the work.
