A new facility in the Cold Brook Business Park in Hermon is planned to be leased to FedEx Ground for a package plant with the potential to employ 90 to 100 workers, officials said.

The $8 million dollar facility is being built by Westmoreland Co. of Alabama and would generate a boost to the entire region, Hermon Town Manager Roger Raymond told the Bangor Daily News.

Although FedEx officials declined to discuss its plans with the newspaper, Herman Economic Development Director Ron Harriman said the project is really big news for the city, and one of the largest construction projects in recent years.

FedEx currently has two facilities in BangorFedEx Ship Center and FedEx Freight Center.
